Cool living...realistic prices

Trying to book a hotel, hostel or flat for a trip to Barcelona can be quite daunting, seeing as the options are overwhelming. But here's a quick guide to cool, central acccommodation at reasonable prices.

Generator Hostel @lascallesdebcn

Probably one of the coolest, most instagrammed hostal bars in Barcelona is found at Generator Hostel. In what I consider to be a great area of town (not right on the ramblas but still in the centre), you can book dorm rooms from 9 euros & private twin rooms from 24 euros.

Around the corner from the hostel, you'll find the Generator Hotel, offering hotel standards & double bedrooms from 79 euros or if you want to go big, you can even have your own huge penthouse with office and terrace from 250 euros.
Make sure you take a trip into Gracia for a wander around the cute narrow streets & stop for coffees or beers in the sunny squares like the beautiful Plaza Virreina.

Double (in the hotel)

Still close to the centre but away from the crowds you'll find the Tailor´s Hostel. Based in the up-and-coming area of Sant Antoni, the unique tailor's themed hostel draws a cool international crowd with its vintage industrial design and location close to the centre. Dorms from 12 euros and private rooms available. If you want to be near the centre (7 mins walk to rambla) but sleep on a quiet road, this is the hostel for you.
Make sure you try Federal Cafe for brunch on a sunny roof terrace or coffee and the best empanadas (or blueberry muffins!) in Barcelona, at Rekons cool corner bar.

The Praktik Group now have 3 hotels in Barcelona and if you're looking for a cool, design hotel at reasonable rates & in a great location of town, choose the Praktik Hotel Garden. Book a double room from 79 euros (depending on season), and chill out on their cute roof terrace after a long day of seeing what this beautiful city has to offer. Set a few roads back from the upmarket Passeig de Gracia, but only minutes walk from the ramblas, the location offers great local options like the cute French brasserie Cafe Emma for a mid-morning coffee stop or Ciudad Condal for classic, delicious tapas in the sun.

Garden Room (most exp.)

For weekends with the girls (or boys), hen do's or group trips, I think a great option is hiring an apartment. This beautifully designed and sunny apartment in the centre of Barcelona is listed on Airbnb at £202 (approx. 258 euros) a night, and can host up to 8 people sharing. With 3 doubles, 2 bathrooms and a huge living space, this is a brilliant option.

Live in luxury at £25 a night each!
