Top Rooftop Terraces in Barcelona
It´s that time at last!! Warmer weather, longer nights and time to head up to the rooftop terraces and enjoy the views, music and a few mojitos...Here´s my top 10...
(It is important to note here that the terraces are open usually only from April to September and the public can head up to the terraces usually after 6pm to enjoy the bars and views)
1) With stunning views of the port, the Duquesa de Cardona Hotel offers an incredible backdrop for a night with friends.
Address: Passeig de Colom, 12
Nearest tube: Drassanes or Barceloneta
2) It´s been mentioned in my blog before, but I have to come back to it again. The Alaire bar at the top of the Condes de Barcelona hotel is one of my favourite terraces in the centre of Barcelona for its location, views, wine and food. It´s what I call "lazy tourism" as you have perfect views of Gaudi´s Pedrera and the Sagrada Familia whilst enjoying a drink and some tapas. There are two entrances to the hotel and the Alaire bar is in the hotel on the south side of calle Mallorca (next to Zadig & Voltaire shop) It´s definitely worth a visit although I´m not so impressed with its recent (summer 2017) refurb!)
(2017 refurb! Alaire Terrace) |
Address: Passeig de Gracia, 73-75
Nearest tube: Diagonal and Passeig de Gracia
4) A little further from the centre but with spectacular views to make the cab ride worth the journey, go to Gran Hotel La Florida up towards Tibidabo (the cathedral on the mountain at the north of Barcelona). The perfect setting for a romantic date.
Address: Ctra. Vallvidrera al Tibidabo, 83-93
Nearest tube: Sarria, San Gervasi FCG (then taxi)
5) For 360· views of the city, stop off at the rooftop bar of the Barceló Raval hotel. You can walk around the circular hotel rooftop and check out Barcelona from every angle. Quite impressive whilst sipping on a glass of wine.

6) The rooftop terrace of Hotel Omm just off the beautiful Passeig de Gracia is great for drinks with friends set to the backdrop of the lights of Barcelona and quite often, live music. A fun & classy option, but quite pricey!
Address: Carrer del Rosselló, 265
Nearest tube: Diagonal
Nearest tube: Diagonal
7) It´s got to be part of this list....the Wet Bar at the W Hotel. Stunning beachfront views, live DJ nights, potentially slightly pretencious but good food & great vibes! It is what it is but makes for a special night if you´re here for a holiday and it´s a great spot for some nice instagramming!
Address: Plaça de la Rosa del Vents, 1 (Head for the big sail-shaped hotel by the beach)
Nearest tube: Barceloneta (then a good 15 min walk) or taxi!
Nearest tube: Jaume 1
9) The terrace at The Cotton House Hotel is total luxury! With huge palms and bamboo furniture it has a colonial feel. Delicious wine and not bad prices compared to the UK. The bar food is also pretty amazing!
10) In Barcelona out of season? You still have a terrace option...the cute Villa Emilia Hotel in the more villagey area of Sant Antoni provides a little sanctuary at night for a mojito and blankets if it´s cool, but also a nice place for a morning coffee with friends. With live music during the summer months, the boutique Villa Emilia is a more chilled but equally beautiful terrace.
Address: Carrer Calà bria, 115
Nearest Tube: Rocafort
11) If you´re a member of Soho House, then get up to the terrace, have a dip in their pool and lounge, eat, and drink until the sun goes down. With stunning views over the port, the Soho House group have created an incredible space with a delicious cocktail & tapas menu to accompany it! Try the sea bass ceviche, croquettes and delicious wild rice salad.
11) My final recommendation for rooftop terraces isn´t actually on a rooftop but makes me happy so it´s going in...It´s the cool, perfect sunset cocktail place called SALT. Right on the beach, there´s nothing that makes a holiday more than this. Chill out music, twinkly lights, lush cocktails and food too. A perfect end to a perfect holiday.
Address: Part of the W Hotel, see above.
Nearest tube: Barceloneta, then walk or taxi.

ReplyDeleteWhich is the best one for a wedding?
ReplyDeleteHi Miryam out of these hotel terraces, I'd definitely say condes, La Florida (for great views of the city) or W hotel for a seaside wedding. X
DeleteHello Angela,
DeleteI need your help. My fiance and I are going to Barcelona in August to have a symbolic ceremony. It will just be us and my son. I am looking for a location that is inexpensive but breathtaking. Something great for ceremony and pictures. I need help and ideas. I do not know what I am doing lol. Help please
Hi Jayssica are you looking for a bar, restaurant, outdoor space? If you let me know I'll send you a few ideas x
DeleteThanks Angela- will check both of them out.
ReplyDeleteHi Angela,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to send you a quick message to say, thank you! I am just back from a 4 day trip to Barcelona, with 13 other girls, for my friend's hen weekend - your blog was such a fabulous find! We visited the Alaire bar, The Duquesa de Cardona Hotel, and Hotel Pulitzer (rooftop bar-tastic!) and also popped into Bar Ocana at Placa Real. They were all awesome, and it was so nice to go places that we knew someone enjoyed! Totally made our weekend (a trip to CDLC was also a highlight!)!
Thank you again.
Ali xx
Hi Ali, I'm so glad you had a lovely time - and thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Sounds like a perfect hen weekend (and good weather too last weekend!) thanks! X
DeleteI will be in barcelona in two weeks and I found your list just amazing Angela. however i'd like to know how to access to these rroftop: should we book in advance ?
ReplyDeleteHi Amal glad you liked it. It's not usually possible or necessary to book if there's only 2 or 3 of you but if there's a bigger group you can reserve a table in the alaire bar (no.2) on advance. Have fun! X
ReplyDeleteHi Angela,
ReplyDeleteIm coming next weekend in Barcelona with 8 friends to celebrate a bachelorette weekend. I still have to book some places in advance.
Which rooftop do you advise me for 8 girls (great view, nice music and prices not so high...) and if you have other places like a good spa/hammam to advise me, it would be great!
Many thanks per advance
Hi Sarah,
DeleteNot sure if you received my gmail - but I recommend Alaire bar (no.2 above) as its gorgeous and you can book in advance which is better if there's a group of you. Also try http://www.airedebarcelona.com which is a cool hot baths place (session is about 29euros) or get a manicure altogether at pink peony in passeig de gracia followed by coffee and cake round the corner in pain quotidien x
All those images of the best roof top bar nyc which are displaying in this blog are fabulous. No doubt it cleared out me well what I really want for my wedding party in this forum. Thank you so much for displaying those.
ReplyDeleteHello Angela
ReplyDeleteMe and my husdband , are coming to Barcelona next week for our wedding anniversary and we would like to have dinner at a restaurant with breathtaking view, preferably at a terrace. i know that this kind of restaurants are quite expensive, i dont mind for quite expensive (not too expensive though!!!). I dont know how is the weather in october.
Thank you
Hi Andrie, I´m sure you´ll have a lovely time in Barcelona for your anniversary. The rooftop terrace at the Condes de Barcelona hotel has incredible views but a simple, informal tapas menu - you´d need to book.https://www.condesdebarcelona.com/en/alaire-terrace-bar-1/ If you´re looking for something more formal for your anniversary then try The Hotel Florida http://www.hotellaflorida.com/restaurante/restaurante-romantico-barcelona which has lovely views but more exp or the Xalet Montjuic http://www.gruptravi.com/ca/xalet-de-montjuic/ The most impresive but unfortunately most exp is the Torre d´Alta Mar which has the best views over the sea and city, but a nice option would be their 39 euros lunchtime set menu which is amazing then cocktails on the condes de barcelona rooftop? Just an idea x
DeleteIncredible!!!
