La Boqueria Market

"At the Boqueria, people eat, shop and gossip together, doing what the Spanish excel at, living life well and enjoying a sense of community." Thomasina Miers, chef at the Wahaka restaurant, London.

One stop you have to make in Barcelona is the oldest and most famous market...Mercat de la Boqueria on the Ramblas. If you want to stock up on fresh food or just wander around and take in the sights, smells and sounds, it´s a great experience and definitely worth a visit.

Making a few purchases there also makes you feel like you take your cooking very seriously! - quite like that part!

Fruity efforts

Stop for a coffee and pintxo at one of the bars inside the market...

Sweet treats
For a quick lunch stop on-the-go, head to Puerto Latino market stall and get stuck into some delicious, freshly prepared burritos...

All the food is so fresh, some of it is still moving!..

Great for the cheese board
After all that shopping, make a coffee and cake stop just down from the Boqueria at the famous Escribà café...

Open every day from 6am to 9pm, except Saturdays....make sure a visit to the Boqueria forms part of your visit to Barcelona, and enjoy the experience...x
