Secret Places...

Sometimes you find them by chance when you´re wandering around a city, but to help you along the way, here are a few special hidden gems to discover in Barcelona.....but don´t tell anyone else!

El Jardi Terraza y Bar de Tapas is hidden within thick stone walls just a few meters from the Boqueria market. It´s like a little quiet oasis amongst gothic gardens and offers some silence away from the Rambla as well as great food and drink . An early evening strawberry mojito is highly recommended.

Nearest tube: Liceu

Food served all day at the secluded Jardi Bar

Mercat de la Princesa.... This place is hard to find but gets me very excited!! If you´re into your food and like tasting lots of different dishes then you have to try this place. It´s recently opened and is a cool market-style tapas restaurant with good prices and the most delicious food. All prepared on the spot, you go to each market stall and choose what you want, pay there and sit down and enjoy! The mushroom risotto and patatas bravas are stunning!

Address:  Carrer Flassaders 21
Nearest tube: Jaume 1 (near Picasso museum)

Gorgeous place, gorgeous food!

Old-school hand-made sweets hidden away in the gothic streets of Barcelona. At Papabubble, you can watch them hand-make the rock and buy a gift to take home (or just eat some!)

Address: Carrer Ample, 28
Nearest tube: Jaume 1 or Drassanes

Sweetie dream

Away from the buzz and noise of Passeig de Gracia is the secretly placed, cute & up-market coffee shop, Santa Eulalia which sits at the top of the beautiful (& pricey) clothes shop. Depending on your budget you can browse through the shop and make a purchase or head directly to the café. It´s a ladies who lunch kind of place but really nice and has a pretty terrace and plenty of delicious cakes or sandwiches to enjoy whilst discussing what you bought, and what you want to buy...

Address: At the top of the Santa Eulalia shop, Passeig de Gracia, 93
Nearest tube: Diagonal

For a shopping debrief

Drinks, music, views of the city and a quick dip in the pool! The new rooftop terrace bar cleverly(!) named The Top has just recently opened.  Up and hidden away from the crowds, but still in the centre of town you can relax and drink or snack whilst taking in the views of the city. Every Wednesday of summer there´s live music and a chance to cool down in the pool!

Address: Roselló, 249
Nearest tube: Diagonal
