My favourite places in Barcelona

Lots of people have asked me what my favourite bars, restaurants & spots are in Barcelona so here´s a list of the places I always go back to with friends and family.
Hope you get the chance to check out a few places during your stay in the city...x

1. Sant Antoni

I love wandering around Sant Antoni & stopping for a coffee or tapas in Carrer del Parlament
Only a 10 minute walk from the Ramblas, you can stroll around a different neighbourhood and away from the main tourist crowds in the old town.

A good time to go is Mon-Sat from 5pm ish onwards as it starts getting busy after the shops reopen. Or on a Sunday morning for brunch when the local book market is open on Carrer D´Urgell, right next to the market.

Try Rekons for the best empanadas (pasties) and carrot cake ever, El Dinàmic (just off carrer Parlament) for not fancy but decent tapas and a beer with a vertical garden, bunting and strings of lights.

El Dinàmic Bar
Cometa café for beetroot houmus and dips, amazing juices and homemade fresh lemonade...

Head across the road to the even smaller, Doga Wine bar for a glass of the most delicious wine sitting on the street and soaking it all in...

2. Hidden Coffee Spots

I absolutely love the Deli Kitchen for a late breakfast & coffee. This cute little café is part of Espai Egg space which hosts different activities from cooking to calligraphy, yoga and more throughout the week. The whole space feels like it´s hidden away just waiting to be discovered and the tasty & beautiful presentation of the dishes is just perfect. Avo toast, organic bagels with smoked salmon and the most delicious cakes, coffees & juices.

A great coffee stop in town (mid-shop) is the terrace at El Cercle which looks over one of the main shopping streets in Barcelona, Portal de l´Àngel. It´s like a little oasis although it´s in the centre of town. Great coffees and cheese toasties (called "bikinis" in Spanish) as well as the best churros with chocolate!

I´ve always loved the idea of cafés in bookstores and with a beautiful terrace garden & great coffee, the Cosmo La Central in  is ideal for those 20 minutes of peace away from the crowds to enjoy your café con leche & carrot cake!

3. Rooftop Bars

Any rooftop bar - no surprise there! I often talk about the gorgeous hotel terraces in Barcelona and with some stunning views of the city and great wine or cocktails. Some of my favourites are the terrace at The Cotton House Hotel which is total luxury, the garden at Alma Hotel or the impressive Skybar at Grand Central Hotel. See more hotel Rooftop Bars here...

4. The Born area

Mercat Princesa in the Born is great for informal tapas when you´re not sure what you want. The market style interior has stands offering all kinds of food from typical tapas dishes to sushi and more...The patatas bravas are amazing!

Follow this with a wander around the beautiful Born area with all its cool boutiques.

5. Glitz & cocktails on Passeig de Gracia

For the cooler weather or to escape the heat, step into the glitz and sparkle of the beautiful El Nacional. Located on the poshest shopping street (Passeig de Gracia), this place is perfect for a pre-dinner drink and is totally instagrammable (especially the toilet mirrors!)

Hope you enjoy this mini tour of my favourite places ....There are so many it´s hard to choose only a few, but if you have a favourite spot, I´d love to hear from you.

Thanks x
