Top Boutique Hotels in Barcelona

When I go away I always prefer a boutique hotel rather than a huge corporate style hotel just because they´ve usually got more character, have original interior design and feel more homely. Here are my favourite boutique hotels in Barcelona, if you´re thinking of a trip to the sun soon. x

Oh and by the way I´m a sucker for twinkly lights, a garden terrace or exposed brick walls! So they´ll feature heavily here...

1) Hotel Neri has 22 rooms and is perfectly located in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona in a beautiful square. If you want quaint, this is it. It´s surrounded by pedestrianised narrow cobbled streets filled with bars, restaurants and boutique shops, and a 5 min walk from the Ramblas. The actual hotel itself is a 18th Century aristocratic house and the rennovation is the perfect mix of old and new. After a long day exploring the city, the terrace bar and restaurant are pretty good options!

2) The Duquesa de Cardona is in here not only for it´s comfortable rooms, but also for it´s stunning roof terrace and location across from the port. A beautiful place to start your evening with a glass of cava before heading to the fish restaurants by the sea.

3) Praktik Bakery...fresh, clean comfortable rooms just off the upmarket street of Passeig de Gracia. The best part is that you only need to head downstairs to the bakery for a morning coffee and croissant or afternoon pick me up patisserie. A hotel and a bakery! If you´re more of a wine fan than a coffee fan, check out Pracktik Vinoteca; which combines a hotel with a wine bar!

4) The concept of the Yurrban hotel is to allow the tourists to live more like the locals. With its super central location and incredible rooftop views, this is a great choice for a weekend break. Its in-house restaurant sets you up for the day with a delicious breakfast and is great for a pit stop lunch.

5) For the ultimate luxury boutique experience in Barcelona, you simply have to try ABaC with its 2 star Michelin restaurant, zen garden, indoor spa and prestigious location at the foot of the hills in Barcelona. Obviously, the price is also quite luxurious, but if you´re looking to splash the cash on a special weekend away, then this is sure to impress.

6) Mercer Hotel is based in the Gothic Quarter not far from Barcelona Cathedral. With 28 rooms and a focus on combining the old with the new, this 5 star hotel is just gorgeous. With a rooftop pool, 2 restaurants and a cocktail lounge, you don´t even need to leave your hotel! The thing I like about this is that it´s guest´s use only of the rooftop so you can relax in private.

7) For fresh, clean, light and bright rooms that make you feel at home, & with the added plus of views over Passeig de Gracia, try Margot House. Located on the main, upper-class shopping avenue, you´re steps away from Gucci and Chanel & living in comfortable & stylish rooms, and if you see something in your room that you like, you can buy it!

8) Get your fix of those pretty hydraulic tiles in this clean, contemporary hotel just a walk away from Gaudi´s Pedrera building. Casa Mathilde is a small boutque hotel offering a number of comfortable, well-designed rooms - the larger ones have access to the terrace.

9) Hidden away in the back streets of the Gothic Quarter you´ll find the very sophisticated Wittmore or "Witty". Adults only reservations (so sorry if you looking for a family hotel) but with a great sun-deck with yellow & white striped comfy cushions, a cute patio for evening drinks and a great restaurant. Rooms are sized from tiny to xxl so choose the size for you and chill in this elegant corner of Barcelona.

10) The Soho House brand arrived in Barcelona in October 2016 and encapulates the coolness of the Soho brand & key styling elements with the character of Catalan interiors. A stunning mix. With an impressive rooftop pool with views overlooking the port, great bar and restaurant, Cowshed spa and luxury cinema, it´s the newest and coolest addition to Barcelona, bringing a touch of London cool to the city.

11) Just a short walk to the greenery & beautiful views of Montjuic, you´ll find Hotel Brummel. This 20 room hotel takes you away from the tourists to an off-the-beaten track part of town with loads of tapas restaurants at incredible prices. The hotel not only has a rooftop pool, but does one of the best brunches in the city and often offers free yoga classes and bike hire to see more of the city.
The staff are incredibly friendly and the bar & outdoor patio provide a nice way to kick off the evening before heading into town.

12) Last but not least an incredibly well-priced option just minutes walk from the centre. The Hotel Market is not only reasonable but has a beautifully decorated bar, terrace and restaurant. (I must mention that the bar although pretty, is located in an passageway so no views but great for a post wander early evening drink)
