A terrace in the sun

The recently opened restaurant and terrace bar El Cercle is perfectly located in one of the main shopping streets in the centre of Barcelona. Surrounded by the warm-coloured buildings of the Gothic quarter, and overlooking a pedestrian area, it´s a perfect and surprisingly quiet place for a morning coffee & croissant or evening glass of wine and tapas.

Its terrace in the sun is one of my favourite spots for a coffee stop and a bite to eat whilst out shopping & you just have to try the Catalan tradition of churros and chocolate (above) which is ideal comfort food in the winter months.

Hidden away in a beautifully restored 15th Century building, El Cercle offers 4 different dining spaces; The menus of the more formal main restaurants, the Library & the Four Seasons are based on contemporary Catalan cuisine. In contrast, the Japanese Bar offers exciting and fresh sushi for groups of friends to dine in a less formal setting.

The terrace bar (The Garden) offers a more relaxed menu with tapas, salads, sandwiches (totally recommend the mozzarella and sobrasada toasted sandwich), vermut, wine, cocktails and delicious home-made cakes.

The Real Cercle Artistic (Royal Artistic Circle) is also home to different art and photo exhibitions. See here for current temporary exhibitions.

  1. Looks gorgeous! I love that you can still enjoy terrazas in the winter months in Spain if you wrap up warm.
