Restaurant with the best view of Barcelona

Most people remember the famous images from the Barcelona Olympics of the diving competition against the stunning backdrop of the city...now see these beautiful views for yourself...

I´ve been up to Montjuic a number of times and even peered through the railings of the Olympic swimming pool to try to see the full view from up there, but I never realised that right next to the pool you can access these views whilst sitting on a terrace and having a coffee! Even better.

As you walk through the restaurant and out onto the terrace at the Xalet de Montjuic, you are literally taken aback by the breathtaking views over the city of Barcelona. You can see layer upon layer of the city´s structure all the way to the mountains and it really is simply stunning.

It was great meeting the team and I was quite surprised when they told me that the Xalet offers morning coffees and fresh pastries from 11am as well as their cool Sunset Sundays on the terrace. 

I love doing activities if there´s a coffee & cake at the end of it and I know my family and friends would love to do a bit of sight-seeing at the castle on Montjuic then enjoy a mid-morning coffee with views of Barcelona (and pastries!)

If you like discovering places away from the tourist crowds, then head up to the Xalet Terrace for drinks and snacks on Sunset Sundays during the summer months. Enjoy a cocktail and live dj whilst watching the colours change over Barcelona, not a bad way to end the weekend.

There are a number of unique spaces in the 4 floors of the restaurant which can also host weddings and communions as well as corporate events. If you´re looking to do a more intimate, private party with friends, you can also talk to the Xalet about hiring a space on their terrace..pretty impressive for a special birthday or anniversary! 

Gin Tonics & Canapés for a business event

The dinner we had was delicious; langostine salad, scallops and fillet of steak with creamy potatoes and fresh vegetables. The setting is relaxed and the service is great but it is at the higher price end of around 40 euros per head, so definitely for a special occasion. I would recommend booking just before sunset to see the spectacular changing colours of the city. The Xalet is part of the Grup Travi chain of quality restaurants which are well-known in Catalunya.
