English Afternoon Tea...doing it Brit style

A perfect and civilised way to spend a late afternoon in any city....the English Afternoon tea.

Anyone who knows me knows that this is one of my favourite things to do. How could you not enjoy eating delicious cakes and drinking tea and champagne with friends or family?

After trying a few places in Barcelona I can definitely say that the Afternoon Tea at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in the heart of Passeig de Gracia is the best in the city. For 18 euros you can have the full buffet with your choice of tea, sandwiches and a great selection of cakes and desserts. If you´re not that hungry then you can select individual sandwiches or cakes costing from 1.5 to 4 euros each.

This dining option from the Mandarin is never really advertised & is a great little secret to discover. Every Thursday to Saturday from 5pm to 7pm, you can relax with friends in the Blanc Brasserie whilst enjoying cupcakes, mini roast beef sandwiches, chocolate mousse desserts, fruit tarts and more.

My only small disappointment was that there were no scones and cream which is probably one of the most important parts of a cream tea - but if you are craving scones then try the mini, but delicious cream tea at the upmarket Santa Eulalia Café (includes Enric Rosich Macarons) or even a scone and great cup of tea in one of the Buenas Migas cafés. (Or make your own!...blog post to follow)

So if you have a special occasion, want to treat a friend or your mum, baby shower or trip with girlfriends, the Afternoon Tea at the Mandarin is one thing I´d have to recommend.
