L´Ou com balla (Dancing Egg!) in the cool Born area is the ultimate in romantic charm. It´s small, candelit and the decoration and ambience makes it a perfect setting for a quiet meal with someone special. The food is delicious, principally Catalan dishes with a French or Italian twist. This is the kind of place that makes you want to leave your sofa on a cold or rainy autumn evening. A warm atmosphere and a little wine and conversation, it´s definintely worth it.

Montiel Espai Gastronòmic is in the same area and again is a small, intimate restaurant with delicious freshly prepared dishes and amazing accompanying wines. These restaurants are typical of the Born area of Barcelona with it´s narrow cobbled streets and hidden corners.
Staying in the old part of town, I´d like to suggest the Pla restaurant. It´s cosy, warm interior is welcoming and the food is delicious - mediterranean but with European and Eastern influences in certain dishes.

Café de l´Academia is in the Barrio Gotico which is the old part of town and is very popular with the locals. It´s located in Calle Lledo and has a terrace with tables during the summer months. However for a romantic autumn or winter evening, this place is perfect inside with it´s soft lighting and open brick walls. It only has a few tables and a bar to have a drink at whilst waiting for your table (see below). the food is Catalan dishes and with great fillet steak, stews, lamb, etc. Unfortunately it´s not open on a Saturday.
