1) Condes de Barcelona: Gorgeous hotel perfectly located in the main shopping street of Barcelona (Bond Street and Oxford Street kind of shopping). 5 minutes walk to Plaza Catalunya and La Ramblas, and with the best terrace bar and view of Barcelona (plus pool!). 2) Boutique in el Born: Banys Oriental is a clean, cosy, classic boutique style hotel in the historical Born area of the city. It´s well-priced at 105 euros for a double room and is located 5 minutes walk from the Ramblas. The suites aren´t in the same building but are of the same standard. A great option for a city break.

3) For a cool, modern hotel in the centre of town, book into the Hotel Pulitzer. It´s a 4 star boutique hotel and although it´s centrally located it´s not super noisy and has a fantastic terrace for summer drinks. Rooms from 140 euros (low season).

4) Ohla Hotel: A rooftop pool & Michelin-starred restaurant are on offer in this centrally located modern hotel. With rooms from 220 euros a night it´s at the high end of the scale but worth it if you want to treat yourself! 5 minutes walk from the Ramblas and 10 to the Port.

6) Special Occasion: It has to be the W Hotel. With it´s beachfront location, swimming pool and bar and stunning suites with private terraces and hot tubs (which are like mini-apartments!), this is a weekend everyone has to try at least once! The hotel itself is sail-shaped and sits right on the edge of the water where you can watch the paddle-surfers as you sip on a mojito (want one now!). You´re a cab ride from the centre but a walk from some great seafood restaurants and for a cheap midday option head downstairs to Il Gallito for tapas and wine.

ReplyDeleteWhen the terraces are open (usually spring to the end of autumn), anyone can head up to most terraces after about 5 or 6pm. The Pulitzer is gorgeous for a post-shopping drink in the centre of town!
